THE WAY WE WORK FROM A TO ZIf you're looking to take a balloon flight in Flemish or Walloon Brabant, then you've come to the right place. We do all we can to ensure that people from the area can fly as near as possible to where they actually live. We choose the lift-off site bearing in mind wind direction and speed. There also has to be sufficient opportunities for landing in the direction of our flight; we need to assess this beforehand to ensure that everyone is guaranteed a minimum of a one-hour flight. You should bear in mind that your outing will last some three hours in its entirety. You will receive a call from us in the early afternoon when you'll learn whether the weather is favourable for ballooning. You will then be informed as to where and when your flight will take place. We always ask you to arrive approximately one hour before lift-off. Once you've been introduced to your pilot, you'll be given a detailed briefing and afterwards the floor is naturally all yours to ask any questions you might have. Half an hour later you'll be looking at the world you know from a completely different dimension, flying to the rhythm of the wind. If the surroundings permit, we lift-off as slowly as possible and fly at an altitude of some 150 to 200m so that everyone has the chance to become acclimatized to the feeling of being in a balloon. After that, we usually fly at an altitude between 150 and 800m. The flight is one of pure enjoyment and breathtaking views, and please feel free to ask whatever questions you wish. After about an hour we start looking for a suitable landing spot. How far we have flown depends naturally on the wind speed, though an average flight covers some 20 kilometres. One thing every balloonist needs is a friendly farmer, and we are certainly no exception. We always do our utmost to cause as little trouble, and preferably none at all, to whoever owns the land we set down on, and he's our first port of call once we've landed. Your first balloon flight will leave you with a feeling of euphoria that we celebrate with a glass of champagne, a tradition dating back to the 18th century. Our ground crew will have followed the balloon's course during its flight and try to arrive as soon as possible after we've landed. You and the other passengers will then be driven back to our original point of departure, although family and friends are free to follow the balloon's flight in their own cars. You'll also take back home with you a tasteful moment of your flight. Ballooning is safe! We hope that this will remain our best publicity for years to come. Our pilots are tri-lingual and all have a European flying licence with more than 1,000 flying hours under their belts. Whether before, during or after the flight, we are there for you. Our balloons come from the world's finest balloon manufacturer and undergo stringent tests and controls by the Aviation Board on a yearly basis. Each passenger is completely insured. We are members of Profballoon, the professional federation of Belgian balloonists. In short, we are your guarantee of a great day out, or should we say up, where the quality is only surpassed by the adventure! |
